Local Groups & Organisations

Community holding hands

In recognition of the difficulties local groups and organisations will have been experiencing during this ongoing pandemic in not being able to meet as they normally would, Town Council are encouraging them to contact us to see if we may be able to assist.

We are conscious many of these groups are a lifeline to the most vulnerable in our community, and not being able to meet increases the sense of isolation and loneliness.
Some groups have been keeping in touch with each other remotely via various social media platforms, and perhaps a relatively small grant could assist others to do the same.

If you feel we could help you reconnect with your members, please send an email to john.hold1@gmail.com giving details of your group/organisation, where you normally meet, total number of members ( identifying the number who live in the Blackwood Town area ), together with your proposals with costings and hopefully we will be able to assist.

As you are all aware, the current COVID Pandemic has totally devastated the Council’s events programme throughout the summer and over the forthcoming Christmas period , albeit the Christmas lights will be on as normal, to try to bring some festive cheer to the town. We would urge local people to take advantage of the free parking and support the businesses in town as much as possible.
There will as a result of the cancelled programme of events be savings in the budget, that Town Council are now inviting its residents to forward suggestions /ideas as to how this might best be invested to benefit the town.
Please forward same to john.hold1@gmail.com, and they will be considered by members.
