In view of the current Coronavirus Regulations (July 2020) that make large scale gatherings
in Wales unlawful, the worrying current spike in cases locally and due to the advance
planning required the Town Council has decided to cancel all its remaining events for 2020,
namely the Civic Awards Evening, the Christmas Lights switch on, and the Christmas
Lantern Parade/ Carol Concert.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has recently announced that for the same reasons, the
Winter Fair in Blackwood has also unfortunately been cancelled.
The health and wellbeing of the community is paramount and with social distancing
measures being far to complex to implement at such events, we have made the difficult
decision to cancel these events for 2020.

Whilst the Christmas Lights Switch On Event, as part of the Christmas Winter Fair has been
cancelled, the lights will be on from late November/ early December, and Town Council will
do what it can to support the community and High Street throughout the Festive period.

Whist our Civic Awards Evening will not go ahead as normal, our Blackwood in Bloom
winners, and nominations for various Civic Award categories will be announced next month.
If anyone wishes to nominate an individual or group who they believe have made an
outstanding contribution to the wellbeing of the Town over the past years, or perhaps more
recently during this COVID 19 Pandemic , please forward your nominations, ideally by 30th
September 2020 to –
